So I am working on an archaeological excavation in Italy. But I work strictly on survey and GIS stuff, so I don’t ever do any of the manual labor-type stuff that most people are doing. Today, however, I picked up a shovel to help my friend Marilyn on her spoil heap ramp. Immediately, students in the nearby trench started clapping. It was such an unprecedented event that someone took a picture. This is that picture.
THIS IS THE MOST GORGEOUS THING EVER.
On September 1st, Lego will release the Super Star Destroyer Executor set. When built, it will be four feet long and weigh 8 lbs. It will consist of 3,152 bricks. It will have a removable section with a command bridge underneath, and come with Darth Vader and the bounty hunters you see above. It will cost $400.
I weep.

week in summary
So I’ve missed a few days reporting my Italian adventure. I’m too lazy to go back and think about each individual day, so here is a condensed version:
+ Got to spend Thursday and Friday in the field doing survey instead of staring at the computer all day. It was a much needed break.
+ Got invited by Jamie and Claudia, two of the trench supervisors, to go on a driving trip to Praeneste and Lavinium. They have a car and it makes it much easier to get around. It was awesome. Maybe I will put a pic up later or something.
+ Got a fridge full of beer.
+ Roommate is gone for a week. His wife is in town and they have their own room. So I pushed our two twin beds together to create one big bed. Great success. Plus I can dance around the room naked more often.
- Work still blows.
- Don’t really know what the fuck I am doing with my life.
- Fuck.
